Marti,
That is a great and simple procedure for mobilizing people. Thanks for sharing.
We must go to people and invite them to join the team. That is the best way to recruit and place a volunteer. Letting them know the expectations is also critical. Truly and openly showing appreciate makes them want to continue on the team.
I like the 4 A's.

My definition of a good leader is what I call the 4 A's of Leadership.

Ask Act Assist Appreciate.
Ask someone to join a team or ministry. Very ofter someone hesitates to join, but when asked they become great team members.

Act on a "yes" and be sure to include the new member in your project.

Assist the new member by letting them know exactly what is expected.

Appreciate them. Sincere appreciation is always welcome.

What is your definition of leadership? one who leads others.

What makes the difference between a good leader and a poor leader? A good leader understands their responsibility for leading others and they are aware of their accountability in leading others. A good leader will lead in a clear direction or goal oriented which will then benefit each individual or the group as a whole. A good leader will have followers not subordinates.
A bad leader generally cares for themselves and not to concerned for the well being of their followers.

Do you agree that everyone is a leader in some way?
Yes, in some way we all are leaders.

Is the church today winning? I have to say yes and no. It is not a cop out answer. The church today are holding on, they have not been eliminated yet, or thrown the towel in, or hit the mat. A look at History reveals that the church has basically always had three groups; 1) team players who are playing the game, 2) teams players whose hearts are in the game and giving all they have to win. And of course you have 3) team players that just want to ride the bench for whatever reason.
I wish the church were doing better, but I understand that it is all a process for players to need coaches, to need cheerleaders and to need each other. As a church we all have a part to play while it is still day or while we are up to bat, so get in there and do your best.

Yes, I think you can be a "Christian" and not a disciple. Why? We have so many denominations that cannot agree on what it means to be a Christian. Therefore the word has became a catch all. Jesus had the exact same definition of what is required of a disciple as the whole Bible taught; complete surrender and obedience to God. It is disappointing that many cannot see that. I think that much of the church today does not teach what the Bible says. God has not changed and never will!
