Leadership Nuggets:
-True Ministry comes from the overflow. We must be filled in order to be able to offer something to others. (Reflection on 2 Corinthians 1:2-5)
– It is easier to get people to give money than time. People’s time represents their lives. So, if you are going to ask people to give a part of their lives, you had better be careful to define their roles and not waste their time.
– The pastor is the greatest “bottleneck” in the church. The people will not rise higher than their leader.
Leadership Illustration:
Present Reality -> Mission -> Vision (God’s Desired Future)
The “Present Reality” is the Point A on the map (you are here now). The vision is the Point B (destination you want to arrive at). The mission is the road from point A to Point B (how to get there). The followers of Christ are the cars. The steering wheel is the leadership. The Holy Spirit is the driver.
Quote of the Day:
“Leadership is the vision to see the next step and the influence to call forth the resources to see it done.” -Vernon Armitage
Connection of the Day:
I met with Pastor Don Waddell of the Southeast Christian Church. He has worked extensively for over a decade with the connections ministry. Currently he serves as a teacher and in the leadership of their New Members ministry. We talked about discipleship and how Southeast has transformed its mindset about ministry. Don talked about a “walk with me” attitude. He sees the incredible importance of personal contact and mentoring among believers.
